Ambassadors, tutorials, and a new way to connect.

It’s a stat used regularly these days, but the fastest growing user base for Facebook is the over-65s. Aveo has always known that it’s the people in the community that make the community a great place to live, whether that community is based in a bricks and mortar village, or a virtual environment. That’s why they aren’t making their latest product launch just about the IT, but about the people who will enjoy using it.

“It’s not just about the download speeds, or the fact that you can get cheap phone calls” said Anthony Sargent, General Manager at Aveo. “The key thing about an internet service is how it connects you to those around you. We’ve taken it a step further and we’ve found some willing and able residents to take on a mentor role to teach others how to use the internet and make the most of our AveoConnect product” he said.

“It’s a way for residents to connect, but also having a friend show you how to do something is just a nicer way to learn. Using the internet is fun. Learning what you can do is a journey of discovery for some of our residents and who better to take them on that journey than other residents?” Sargent said.

AveoConnect is Aveo’s broadband offering for residents in their villages. While a resident can take out another broadband offering from another provider, AveoConnect has a range of unique benefits, from personalised installation and training, to a support service that is better equipped to handle the queries of someone over the age of 65. “We don’t anticipate many difficulties for customers as everyone who signs up get access to training from our staff, and there will be regular resident lead training sessions. It’s something we know people want, and something we’re happy to help provide” said Sargent.

Aveo take connectivity to a new level – launch villages announced.

Aveo, Australia’s leading owner and operator of retirement villages, has announced the villages that will take part in the initial launch phase of its AveoConnect product. Aveo Albany Creek, The Clayfield, and Aveo The George will be the first to benefit from the cutting edge broadband offering. “We know that this product is going to appeal to a wide range of retirees, so we wanted to kick it off in a mix of medium density and broad acre villages. Aveo Albany Creek is one of our biggest villages and we’ve already had strong interest in the product before undertaking any launch activity” said Anthony Sargent, General Manager at Aveo.

“This isn’t just another broadband product. We’ve got a dedicated team who know how to service the needs of people aged over 75. That’s who moves into our villages and that’s who will benefit most from this great new product. In fact, we’re promising anyone who signs up to AveoConnect, prior to moving into a village, that their broadband will be live the day they move in. You just can’t get that anywhere else” he said.

Residents at all three villages are excited by the prospect of the AveoConnect roll out, and they can look forward to it going live in April. “We know this will be popular” said David Waldie from Frontier Networks. “What Aveo has done is once again give their residents access to a best in class product.”

AveoConnect will launch at Aveo Albany Creek on 11 April, with The Clayfield and Aveo The George going live soon after. Further roll out across the Aveo portfolio of villages is planned over the coming months.

A new frontier for tech savvy retirees.

It’s been over 20 years since Aveo built their first retirement village in Cleveland, Brisbane. In that time, they’ve grown their portfolio of communities to the largest in the country and have lead the way with innovation year after year. So it’s not unexpected that Aveo are leading the way once again, this time with view to providing retirees with a second-to-none broadband offering.

“It’s broadband, only better” said Aveo General Manager, Anthony Sargent. “We’ve signed on with Frontier Networks who will provide the physical broadband network to a number of trial villages in the Aveo portfolio in the near future. Once the IT backbone is in place, we plan to build on the services offered to residents by ensuring they have access to a full range of health, wellness and care applications that take it from a standard broadband product to something you can’t get anywhere else”.

Called AveoConnect, Aveo states they plan to begin trials in April 2016.
